denver rug hooking classes

The Wool Basket (www.thewoolbasket.com), home for those interested in traditional and primitive rug hooking, wool appliqué, rug braiding, needle felting and Russian punch needle embroidery, is offering new items, new crafts and gift ideas for the holiday season and the new year. For seasoned crafters, those just getting started, anyone looking for a new craft, or those looking for gifts for the crafters in their lives, The Wool Basket offers many ready-made options for gifts, and everything necessary to create handmade gifts and family heirlooms.

The Wool Basket carries a complete line of supplies for rug hooking, wool appliqué and rug braiding, as well as books, and gifts. The store recently began offering tools and supplies for Russian punch needle embroidery, with instructional DVDs from Designs from the Pep'r Pot, dyed floss from Weeks Dye Works, and patterns from various designers.

New needle felting supplies allow crafters to embellish quilts, wool slippers, clothing and wall hangings with wool felt for a three-dimensional effect. Of particular interest to rug hookers are Townsend Industries new Orbiter Frame, and the Townsend Fabric Cutter, which features simple setup and blades that can be changed much quicker than tradition fabric cutters, and are covered by a lifetime guarantee. Orders for Townsend frames placed before January 1, 2006 will avoid a scheduled price increase to take effect in the new year.

In addition to beginning rug hooking, penny rug and rug braiding classes, The Wool Basket offers demonstrations, guest speakers and drop-in rug hooking sessions. The store carries a wide selection of hand-dyed tweed, plaid and herringbone wool fabrics, Pro Chem and Cushing dyes, several types of hoops and frames, monk's cloth and linen backing materials, cloth cutters, hooks, patterns, and more.

Located in historic downtown Loveland at 526 N. Cleveland, The Wool Basket's regular hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The store will be open from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Fridays for Loveland's "Night on the Town" event to demonstrate punch needle embroidery, needle felting, and rug hooking. Those dates for the next three months are December 9, 2005 and January 6 and February 3, 2006. Make it a point to stop in, learn something new and have a hot refreshment."

The Wool Basket also offers supplies through its Web site, www.thewoolbasket.com. The store serves clients in northern Colorado and outside the area, including crafters from Denver, Cheyenne, Colorado Springs, Steamboat Springs, Grand Junction and Scottsbluff, Nebraska and beyond.
