carolyn pollack started making jewelry in the 1970s

Just in time for the holidays, Relios Jewelry, an Albuquerque-based designer and manufacturer of contemporary sterling silver jewelry, is opening a retail store right in its own hometown. The 33-year-old company, which has gained enormous recognition through its sales on the popular TV shopping network QVC, will now be putting down “retail roots” among the likes of stores such as Coldwater Creek, Pottery Barn, and J. Jill at the shops at ABQ Uptown in northeast Albuquerque. The store is opening for the Friday, November 14th at 10am.

“This is very exciting for Relios – especially with the holiday season so close,” says Bill Pollack, President of Relios, Inc. “We’ve been bringing the rest of the world the beauty of designer southwestern jewelry on QVC and through our website, and now we have the perfect opportunity to showcase our jewelry in the birthplace of its inspiration.”

Bill’s wife Carolyn Pollack, also the lead jewelry designer and Vice-President for the company, has developed quite a following of loyal viewers as the face of Relios through her 14 years as a QVC guest promoting her southwestern jewelry line and her designer jewelry collections,“Sincerely Southwest”.

“This is the perfect time for Relios to be expanding its reach into the local retail arena,” says Carolyn Pollack. “Lots of people ask us where to go in Albuquerque to see all the great designs they love from our Sincerely Southwest on QVC or turquoise jewelry fans and collectors can now find all the complementary items to match their QVC purchases in person.

Relios prides itself in consistent customer service, and its dedication to remaining a “U.S.A.-made” company. “While many U.S. jewelry manufacturers have found it more profitable to farm work out to other countries, we’ve (Relios) chosen to stay and uphold our “Made in the USA” value system, and it’s paid off,” says Pollack. “Of course, there are certain concessions we’ve had to make – there are hardly any stone cutters left in the U.S., so many of our stones are cut overseas, and we purchase many of our beads from China and India.”

The Relios Jewelry Story

Relios, the proud employer of more than 150 local people, started with humble beginnings as the brainchild of Relios President Bill Pollack. Bill began as an independent artisan making jewelry out of his garage in Albuquerque, New Mexico in the early 1970’s. In 1978 Pollack took Relios to new heights landing a national contract with J. C. Penney Co. for a line of sterling silver jewelry, which lasted a decade. From there, the company enjoyed continued growth and success becoming a major supplier for the QVC television home shopping network in 1987. And just within the last year, Relios outgrew its 11,000-square-foot factory and moved into a new 25,000-square-foot factory in northeast Albuquerque, allowing the company to double its production capacity and expand services to customers. They now serve customers from all over the U.S. with unique designer styles and contemporary southwestern looks.
